The Festivals Have Begun Part 3- Lemon Lily Festival

One of the most beautiful things about a road trip some where is the scenery you see along the way.   We went to the Lemon Lily Festival this weekend in Idylwild, California at an Environmental Conservation  The Lemon Lily is like many of our animals, it is a threatened native Lily.  This place is doing everything to educate the public about this beautiful plant.

Don’t depend on your GPS  for directions all the time because sometimes it will take you the back roads to a location.  We were at about 4,000 feet in these photos and still had about an hour left before we arrived.

One thing about being this elevation you can see the whole city beneath you.   It was a good day all in all.  Since I am not fond of heights  I’m not getting too close to the edge to take a photo.

When You Hit The Finish Line

Today is day 90 of my Non-Negotiable health and fitness journey.   I completed the 90 days of the first level and I am excited about staying the course for the second level.   I made the commitment and followed till the finish line.

I invested in me and got awesome returns on my investment.   Life will always give us the opportunity to reset our life and the directions we are going.   It is up to us to accept the challenges that are presented in order to move forward and upward to new levels of insight.

As artist this applies to our art as well.  We are always exploring new directions, new heights to make our work better than the last time, more interesting than the last time, better lighting than the last time.  Whether it is painting, drawings, or photography as artist we always look for ways to make it better than the last time.  New concepts, new directions while staying on course in our endeavor to create our art.

Life is about change, and change is about growth which in the end is the investment we make in ourselves that brings us great returns.

DounutsSpring is finally here in most places.  The sun is bright and shinning, flowers are starting to bloom, humming birds are flying around. Spring is in the air.

As you will recall I am on my museum visits for this year.  My first stop will be the Edward Dean Museum, Cherry Valley, Ca.  They are currently getting ready for their exhibit “Rhythms of The East” a discovery of how art is interwoven into the customs and cultures of Indus Valley societies in the Indian Sub Continent.

The exhibit will feature fine hand-woven articles, silk, jewelry and art.  The exhibit will open April 19, 2014 and runs until June 28, 2014.  Thanks for following me we shall explore a lot this year.  Leave a comment and don’t forget to like us.

RIP Nelson Mandela and Dr. Paul Crouch – One Person Can Make A Difference In The World

Lighting The WayWe are at the fifth day of December, 2013 and some of our profound peacemakers and visionaries have transitioned to their next form of life.  They have moved from our visible world to that of the eternal world.  They have left us with their life teachings of vision.  The first was the Founder of TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) Dr. Paul Crouch.  A man who had a vision for twenty-four hour Christian broadcasting world-wide.  When no one else was talking or thinking about broadcasting satellite, cable  television, Dr. Crouch was seeing how to broadcast christian programing around the world and 40 years later he has finished his journey and has taken his rest from his labor.  The next person taught us about having a vision of peace.  Nelson Mandela was in prison for 27 years and yet when released he could not and would not have ill feeling towards those who had held him.  He was a man of peace and he lived his life as that example for us.  He was the symbol of reconciliation  He taught the world, no one is born hating one another but this is learned and we as people can learn to love the same way.  Two men, two visions, two leaders who left their mark on society and are in the pages of history for this time and season.  RIP dear souls, you have finished your work and left us with the examples….RIP.

Stay tune for the New Year Post January, 2014.   Blessing to everyone……..

This is the last writing for 2013,  I would like to thank everyone who has followed me this year.  Thank you for your “Likes” to my post.    We are wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season………We are looking forward to 2014.

The progression of art
The progression of art

?????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????

This shows the progression of a painting from start to finish.  As I painted and came to one stage I took a picture before I proceeded to the next stage.  I recently saw a group of ducks walking across the street.  They were following what I believed to be their mother and they were all walking in order.  They were not worried about traffic stopping for them because they were accustomed to walking across the street.   This is larger than my other paintings for the sketchbook 11 X 15 , however we are still using the pen and watercolor process.

Lavender Fields ??????????????????????????????It’s about 103 degrees today, a perfect day to stay inside and work in my studio with lots of air.  Here are my entries for today as I continue with my sketchbook drawings and paintings with watercolor and pen.  The top one is called Lavender Fields, we used purple, red, green, brown, white, blue, yellow.  It is 6 x 8.

This one is called Garden View, we used brown, white, green, purples, reds, yellows. The stair case is just a wash of yellows and red but not enough to really make color where you cannot see the pen. The trees in the back are brown and green with a hint of white and yellow.   It is 6 X 8
