Tonight we went to the Winter Fest Tree Lighting Festival. This is the reality that Christmas is just around the corner and 2015 is almost out the door. Where did the year go.
We stayed long enough for the tree lighting and then left because it was cold. They even brought snow in for those who wanted to snow board.
Santa and Mrs Claus were there walking around greeting everyone, they had a group there called Heart and Soul line dancing who performed, there was a choir there singing Christmas Carols, and plenty of food.
All in all it was a good community event.

One of the best times to take your sketchbook with you is when you know you will be waiting for a period of time. Here are some of my idle time drawings where I did some “Cross Hatching Drawings” with pens. It really helps the time go by quickly. These are with the Micron 02 and 05 pens. You can view more of our works at http://chinue.imagekind.com/Smallartseries, thanks for following. For some reason I always thought the only way I would ever see the Lincoln Memorial was to travel to Washington DC. Image how surprised I was when I found out in the City of Redlands, California there is a Lincoln Memorial. One day I will travel to Washington to see the main memorial, but for now I was glad to see this one.
This was the second museum we went to on the Museum Crawl Day. It was like stepping back in history, I even saw the first submarine ship used by the Navy. There were letters, there were medical instruments used on the soldiers to cut their limbs off, there was history that is not taught in the school system.
Little did we know that if Lincoln had not been killed, he had planned to come to California. That part of history we never knew. It is a beautiful example of what is right and what is still wrong and needs improvement.
We have one more museum to share with you on the next writing, which you will be very surprised about. Thanks for following and please leave a comment and like our page…….
Recently went on museum visit which was called a “Crawl”. You had admission to three museums that day at no charge, they gave you a passport that you would have stamped at each location. At the last location they would put your passport into a drawing for tickets at a later date.
The weather was perfect for this outing so off we went to the first location First stop was the Historical Glass Museum. Ok, did you know there was any such thing as a Glass Museum, I sure did not. This museum is truly for the collector in you with items from the 1800’s, 1900’s and more. If you can even image glass ware from the 1920’s then you have come to the right place. I was very impressed with all the history of glass at this location and the care that has been given in preserving this museum for public view. It was a good day for learning about glass…………….:)
Thanks for following us, and if you haven’t already like us we have more to come. We will tell you about the next museum in our next blog, until then keep preserving history.

Well Fall has finally arrived after a very long hot summer, it is so refreshing to see all the beautiful colors that Fall brings along with cooler weather. I recently went to one of the many pumpkin patches to capture some of these beautiful colors of Fall.
To everything there is a season……….Fall has arrived and nature is smiling at us.
These were taken with a Kodak Digital, for some of them I used my zoom lens to bring the image closer and capture more detail….. like the butterfly on the sunflower. I even explored the corn maze but didn’t go too far into it.
Thanks for following us on our journey…….Like our page and of course follow us……Leave a comment, we do read them……….
I wanted to experiment with textured painting this week so I did several oil on canvas for this study……I applied Gesso to my canvas- two coats. Since it’s a hot day it won’t take long before it dries. I applied Absorbent Ground with a spatula making different types of moves on the canvas. I applied this sort of thick so you could see the indention when it dried.. The Absorbent Ground is used to help the paint absorb better. I waited for this to completely harden and dry before applying any paint. Since the Absorbent Ground works with acrylic paints,,, I am going to use waterable oils which are similar to acrylics in its thickness and drying…………
as I painted I applied the paint according to the way the texture had dried on the canvas. Once dried you can see the texture on the canvas….the painting is abstract but you can see different shapes, one being a ice cream cone and another the shape of a person, the rest I will allow for viewer imagination.
