Story Telling: What Happen Yesterday

Yesterday I woke up feeling OK but as the day progressed I came to realize how we as humans are programmed and mentally conditioned for these holidays. Even if you chose not to be involved there will always be someone who will wish you a “Happy” what ever the holiday is.

Why does everyone assume you spent time with family or friends. Why do they assume you attended a church service.

These holidays are man made and the only profit is retail sales with people feeling guilty so they buy gifts.

So as I asked the question “What happen yesterday” I respond with nothing happen it was just another day.

In The Studio:Watercolor Sketchbook Painting

Our November challenge is going to be working with #watercolor for the month.  One painting either in our #sketchbook or #watercolor pad.

So here is Day 1 Mystery Lady which was a drawing I’m doing in ink as well as watercolor.

Since I’m practicing my face drawings this is the perfect project.

Eenjoy the process, the world is waiting for your art……

Inktober 2017 Day 12 Shattered

A broken heart can be #shattered. Today we are on Day 12 of the challenge.

This challenge keeps me focused and drawing everyday to improve my line drawings.

Inktober2017 Day 4 Underwater

I’m getting the hang of this, we are on day 4 which is Underwater.  Sometimes the day to day issues can make you feel you are Underwater but always know things that you see are subject to change.

First Box Finished

So I finished my first box. It as a challenge with the eyes and nose.

Gonna have to get some very detailed brushes for this project.

The only thing left is to varnish to add shine.  So what do you think?

Live Broadcast: Oil on Canvas and Collage

While cleaning my studio I found a canvas that had not been used. I wanted to do a collage type of project using oils so I started applying the collage part.

Since I was up early this morning with my sick dog who had tummy issues I did a sketch in my sketchbook.

Now I’m transferring that sketchbook drawing onto canvas.

Its kind of abstract don’t you think.

REPOSITION YOURSELF SO YOU DON’T BECOME SHIPWRECKED

SHIP WREAK
SHIPWRECKED

This has been a week of all kinds of shifts and adjustments.  As many of you know I Periscope broadcast live stream as many people do with the influx of live streaming.  All of my live steams were being saved on a third-party server as with many other people.  Originally this was such a great idea since we could save our scopes on this server forever while we decide how to use them later for other opportunities.

Then the unthinkable happen, an email stating they were going to close the site down effective May 4, 2016.  Talk about everyone going into “Olivia Pope” mode to see what could be done to rescues our scopes from being deleted forever from this third-party platform.

Katch.me has been nice enough to assist all of us in getting our scopes off their server before it closes forever by helping us move them either to our hard drive or YouTube.

As for now my scopes are downloaded to my hard drive and I am slowly moving them over to YouTube, thank goodness I have less that one hundred so I should have them all downloaded in a few weeks.

The lesson this has taught me as an artist is always be prepared to re-position yourself when one door closes.  No one thought this would happen so every Virtual Assistant is gaining new clients because people who have three hundred or more scopes will have to have help moving them over to another space.  Live stream is the future, and as it grows we all will have to adjust to many changes along the way.

We all will have to learn to re-position ourselves when we find ourselves in one of those “Olivia Pope” moments.  Breath, step back and reset so we can continue to move forward and not become ship wrecked as the above oil painting on Canvas Panel.

Feeling Stuck, Asking Yourself Whats Next

Oil Pastel and Ink A City In Tears c2016
Oil Pastel and Ink        “A City In Tears”      c2016

This is the second drawing of 2016  11 X 17 Oil Pastel and Ink

Many times as artist we get to the place where we feel stuck and it is at that place of being stuck you start to question whether or not you should even be doing this thing called art as a career or a hobby.

Its doing these lean times of temporary despair that we have to step back and reevaluate what we are doing.  Being an artist is not an easy path because it is a creative journey you are on instead of a career path.

Yes you want to make money at this but the real reason you are doing it is for the creative energy it gives you.  Your doing it for the love of being able to be creative and also make a profit from it.

There are a lot of artist of all kinds, the arena is full of creative souls trying to find where they fit into this arena of creative oceans. You paint, draw, take photography, create computer art, performance art, and yet you still wonder where you fit into this ocean of art.

The only thing I can tell you is to keep creating and you will find your place.  Remember your art is the journey of your soul as it keeps expanding to greater heights alone the way.
